1-Bromo-2-butyne is an organic compound with the formula $$ C_4H_5Br $$ and a molecular weight of 132.99 g/mol. It is a clear, colorless to pale yellow liquid and its CAS number is 3355-28-0. This compound is highly reactive and plays an important role as an intermediate in many chemical processes. It is specially important in making pharmaceuticals like linagliptin which is used to treat diabetes. 1-Bromo-2-butyne is also used to create axially chiral teranyl compounds and in cycloaddition reactions to form cyclic structures. It helps in making alkynyl organometallic reagents which are key in organic synthesis. However, it should be handled carefully as it does not mix well with strong oxidizing agents.

Applications:

1.Making Ringed Compounds: This process is used to create six to eight member ringed compounds by reacting with indoles and the marine natural compound (+/-)-Kallolide B.

5.Making Mono-Propargylated Diene Compounds: Helps produce different mono-propargylated diene derivatives.

6.Creating Isopropylbut-2-ynylamine: Involved in the production of isopropylbut-2-ynylamine.
